Help Find a Cure for Diabetes… and Win Photo Art for Your Walls

type one diabetes

Christopher with his MedicAlert necklace after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

Five years ago my son Christopher was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He was a six year old who suddenly had to endure three to four insulin injections per day – one hundred injections per month, twelve hundred per year and, as of his fifth anniversary with diabetes, over six thousand injections in total (plus twelve to fifteen thousand finger-poke blood tests).

Recently, Christopher said goodbye to daily injections (but not to the finger pokes) when he started on insulin pump therapy. But, while diabetes management has become easier for my son, he still has major challenges around food and exercise that non-diabetic children never thankfully experience. And, because he has a pump, he’s one of the lucky ones.

The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF) has one purpose: To fund research in the search for curing diabetes… and that’s where you and I come in; I’m raising funds with JDRF and I’d love it if you could help.

On Friday, September 20th, I’ll be Riding with JDRF to Cure Diabetes on the Alberta Health Healer Wheelers team. Please consider donating to this worthy cause that is so close to my heart.

To sweeten the pot, I’ll be drawing for some giveaways of my photographic art:

  • five random drawings for large 12×18 photographic prints from everyone who donates,
  • one random drawing of a very large 16×24 signed photographic print from everyone who donates, and
  • one 16×24 photographic print to the person who donates the most to Ride to Cure.

Christopher will pick the winners who will be able to choose their loot from any print on, or from my Flickr page, or my Iocchelli Fine Art Photography Facebook page, or on my personal Facebook page.

Please donate and follow (like) my Facebook page, or this site for updates. Thank you!
