Grateful for Alberta Winters

I was listening to CBC Radio in my car the other day and found myself sharing a connection with an Iqaluit story teller named Laakkuluk. At around 9:30 in the podcast, Laakkulak expresses feelings of warmth and comfort living in the cold, darkness of her arctic home, and goes on to say that she chose to live in the arctic and that, along with her choice, is an embrace for the environment she lives in. Over the years, through photography, this is how I’ve come to feel about Alberta winters. I don’t merely put up with winter – I embrace it, and seek out the beauty the season brings into my life.
