Just Sew It

Go Patterns

A very new pattern company is soon to be making their debut. Two ladies have created a fashion forward, pattern company. Each pattern is drafted using french pattern making techniques. Looks interesting and I am definitely going to try one when they get all their patterns uploaded.

Spring Sewing Plan

I have to finish one quilt by the end of March as it is a gift for my good friend Joanne. It’s her 41st birthday and she is the best friend that I’ve had in many many years. I also have to quilt the first “Turning Twenty… Again” quilt that I’m making for my family. In April, May and June, I’d like to do some fashion sewing. Fabricland had a sale on their Burda, Butterick and Vogue patterns. I only picked up a couple of Burdas and one Butterick.

I really should go through my pattern stash and sew something up that I haven’t touched.

On another note, I picked up some crochet and size 8 knitting needles. I found a website that has free online videos. Sort of a prelude to her dvd that you can purchase. I tried knitting and I tried crocheting. I’m having some troubles but I’ll get it.

Flock of Dreams

At the beginning of November, I am going to make this quilt for my parents. Other than the sampler quilt I’m making, it will be my first quilt made for a gift. The pattern comes from the quilting magazine: Quiltmaker’s issue of Springs All-time favorites 2006. I hope they like it:

Nominees

A wedding will be taking place in Summer of 2007 and while I have plenty of time to figure out what I want to wear I am going to save pics of patterns I might consider.

This flowy summer top is pretty and can be fun to make.

I like the one featured on the real girl on the left. I think it would look good with a straight skirt. Next time there is a sale at Fabricland I’ll pick it up.

Jazz it up baby!

My dd began dancing classes; ballet and jazz and she needed some black jazz pants for jazz. Well, the dance shoppes were charging around $45.00 for a pair her size. Ummmm… I don’t think so. So off to Marshalls to pick up a Kwik Sew pattern for her pants. Pattern 2679 also included a pattern for a ballet skirt and leotard. I think I may entertain the idea of quickly sewing her a skirt for ballet too.

My dancer is posing in her new jazz pants:

The fabric is a nice stretch velveteen with tiny sparkles. Photos never do black pants justice. You cannot see the shape but they hug her hips very nicely and flare out slightly.

Super easy to sew up. There is no side seam on the outside. One pattern and it took me an hour total to sew up.

Still working on the jean jacket. I’d like to get more done this evening. Hopefully. I want to get started on dd’s nightgown. I want to be free and clear of any other projects before the last week of September. I’m looking forward to my quilting class.

It’s getting cold and I still have not sewed my buttonholes on my dd’s fleece jacket. Get going woman!!

Project Runway is now being shown on Lifenetwork now. We always get this show later than the States. Grrrr… So far they have shown episode #2. I really think a contestant is booted off because of their personality and what they are doing for the show. I don’t think their design has anything to do with it. The producers do not want an interesting character to be booted. I do feel they allow the judges to choose the winner fair and square but the real drama is who gets booted. In episode #2, I felt Angela should have been booted. Malan should have stayed. But Angela has pissed some of the other contestants off so they must continue the drama!

Tonight. Yoga and some sewing… hopefully.
