Quilting by Machine
I’m working on my third quilt. The pattern is Turning Twenty Again. Nice and easy pattern. Now, for quilting the top. I have seen this pattern in the quilting stores and it has been quilted using detailed designs. Me, detailed? I don’t think so. Last night I tried quilting a cat onto my large square. Did NOT work. I think it takes a lot of skill to follow a pattern. I could not see where I was going. Many serious quilters have long-arm machines that specifically quilt the top. These huge machines make it much much easier as you can see your work.
I have seen a domestic version in my local quilting store using a Janome quilting machine set up on a quilting frame.
These quilting systems whether domestic or professional both have a “cruise control”. Which would be fantastic on my machine. It is hard to control the speed smoothly.
On another note, this blogger stumbled across my blog too the other day. She enjoys crocheting and sewing too.

I’ve told myself that if I win the lottery I’m buying one of those long arm machines (the only way that I could afford one) becasue they look fun to use! Plus I get tired of trying to jam all that fabric through the neck of my machine, etc.

wow, that machine is huge, quilting has always look so complicated to me, but I love it I have a quilted blanket on my bed right now, lol

I love piecing together the quilt tops but hate the actual quilting (I think that’s why I stick to lap size quilts). When I do get around to making a queen size I think I’ll take it to someone that has one of these pricey little touches and share the glory.

I won’t be getting a machine that large unless I win the lottery or if I apply for a loan. I would only do the latter if I was going to open a business. Besides, I don’t have the room for that big of a machine. Not with the playroom for my dayhome.
