Just Sew It

Golden Globe Gowns 2007

Aaaahhh, gowns. I love them. I would just love to be able to wear a gown such as some of these. Most of them are nice, but there were some real dingers. There seems to be a Greek/Roman theme to some of the gowns worn.

Coverstitch

I need a serger with a coverstitch. My Pfaff is about 15 years old and works great but does not have the coverstitch. I have done without it but I think it would be a good idea to get one. I could get a coverstitch machine but I don’t have the room for three machines. Hmmm….. should I stay with Pfaff or should I check out Bernina, Babylock or Elna. Should I go computerized? I probably will just stick with the mechanical to keep the price down.

I don’t know…. I’ll probably stick with Pfaff.

Batten down the hatches!

A severe winter storm is headed our way. I mean the most severe winter storm that we have seen in 18 years! For us, that is very extreme. Nothing, I mean nothing shuts down because of snow. But this storm just may do it. I may be short of kids and I may not send my dd to school. I washed my van today just in case (yes I know, I’m a clean freak). Have to have cat food, milk and a few groceries. Hmmm… maybe I’ll be able to do some serious sewing. I am finishing up my first quilt (I had to finish my second quilt first for Christmas) and I miss sewing clothing. I’m in luck. My dd needs a skirt for her ballet class. This skirt is 3/4 in length and is specifically for character dance that they will be learning. They must have these skirts and I went to the only store in the city that makes them and there is a five-week wait. I asked them if they would sell me the fabric and trim. They said yes! They said that they love it when moms can sew. It is an easy pattern. Just a circular skirt with a waistband that is fastened with hooks. I’ll post a pic when I’m done.

Long time

I haven’t been writing anything simply because Christmas was too busy! I swear, I’m coming back as a man. I did ALL of the Christmas shopping except what he had to buy for me. He did go grocery shopping for the Christmas Day dinner. At least I had a week off from my dayhome kidlets. I needed that.

I finished my parent’s quilt and my mom was shocked and very happy with her new quilt. She liked it so much that she is going to hang it on the wall. It’s really nice to make a quilt for someone and then see them just cherish it.
