Just Sew It

I have a couple of pant patterns from Burda that I am planning on sewing for the fall/winter season. They are casual since I do work at home. I would also like to make a pair of dressy pants and found this pattern (Burda 3114) that I think I’ll make.

Fleece Jacket: Pocket Construction

Sewing with fleece is different as you do not press at all. I used a longer stitch length on the sewing machine and serger. I also put my differential feed to 1.5 to help prevent waves.

First, I stitched along the bottom at 3/8″ with a loose and longer stitch. I folded over the top half to the right side and stitched at both ends. Then I turned the upper half out. I then pulled the threads to ease the rounded corners in and it worked quite nicely. As I pinned the pocket on the fronts, I added some sparkly rick-rack for a pretty embellishment.

One of my cats was poking is nose around. Poor guy lost his eye when he was young due to a cat fight. He is one smart cat and my buddy.

My long weekend ventures

On Saturday, we were invited to a pig roast at a friend of a friend’s cabin. Yes, they actually roast a whole pig. Head and all. I just love pig roasts! NOT! I actually stopped eating pork a few months ago. No particular reason. I just don’t like the taste of pork any longer. After looking at poor “Fred”, I definitely could not even have a small bite. Of course someone had to ask why I was not eating any. I said, “I can’t eat him after looking him in the face”. Too gross.

The boys played a game of soccer. I’m hoping my monkey will enjoy soccer when I enroll him next year when he is five. He certainly loves to play it here and at home.

Maggie is a neigbour’s dog and she hung around looking for any scraps she could get.

Sunday we were too beat to do anything but on Monday we went to the annual Heritage festival put on in a park that is located in our beautiful river valley. Over 40 countries set up a tent and offer food, entertainment, arts & crafts, etc. for everyone’s enjoyment. It is one of my favorite festivals in the summer. Our city has many festivals over the summer. My dh and I love to try the different food from exotic countries. Today we tried food from Afganistan, Malaysia, and Venezula.

It turned out to be a hot day so we only stayed for a couple of hours.
