Just Sew It

Itching to Stitching

I have decided that this weekend is the weekend that I will start sewing. I planned on starting in March because of the renos but I think I can start because the bulk of the renos are finished. There really is nothing I can do to help and the rest must be completed by my dh and his dad.

Anyways, I have two outfits that I want to complete. One for my dd and one for a little girl that I care for. It’s a jumper and I will be sewing it out of corduroy. I also want to get to know my new baby. It’s just sitting there waiting for me. Everyday it whispers “when are you going to sew with me?”. I have been playing with it but nothing serious. CAN’T WAIT!!!

Cabinets

It’s February 12 and Marco and his dad have started putting the kitchen cabinets up. Things are starting to come together.

You know how you see those people who live like pack rats and they have stuff piled everywhere? Well, that’s how I feel. I like things neat and organized and this way of living right now is driving me crazy. I cannot wait until my kitchen is finished and I can live a normal life. I can live without light fixtures and base boards but without my kitchen… is hell. Ahhh, soon it will be over.

Obesity

Obesity is a very serious problem in our country. I see way way too many women and men that are much too overweight. I’m not talking about 20 pounds here. I really do not care what other people look like but what concerns me is the strain it puts on our health care system. Eventually, obese people will develop problems. Heart disease, diabetes (sp?) etc. I have heard so many women complain about their weight but what are they doing? eating high fat foods and not exercising. Now I know that losing weight is a very difficult thing. Some people have to work very hard to keep weight off and I know that everyone cannot be a size 7 but it is imperative to take care of ourselves. I am a busy mom trying to balance my life between caring for two children, running a day home and getting to the gym while also sewing and scrapbooking as a hobby. Not always easy but I make it happen.

I go to the gym at least four times a week. Most women at the gym are fit but there are women there that are overweight. Overweight maybe by only 20 pounds give or take but they are there. On occasion I do see a very overweight women but they usually do not last too long. It really bothers me that I will have to pay one way or another for these severly overweight people. Longer lines at the emergency or longer waits for hospital beds, higher insurance premiums, etc.

Wake up people! your health is at stake!! I hear all kinds of complaints and excuses but when it comes down to it WE are responsible for ourselves. No one is making you eat poorly and we can squeeze in exercise. I think companies should try to incorporate exercise into our daily schedules with either having an onsite gym at work or giving employees time during the day to get to the gym. Exercising gives more energy which equals to a more healthy and productive employee.

Obesity is such a problem and we all need to pay close attention to this problem.

Painting Day #2

We finished painting the second coat of the kitchen and living room. Tomorrow I will paint two coats in the hallway while dh put the kitchen together (Ikea). Then that will be it for painting and my job.

I received my first copy of Ottobre Design and I love the outfits they have for kids. I am definitely going to make Cassandra a top and a jacket. I think I’ll even make Chris one too. Now I just have to find nice fabric for the kids.

Painting Day #1

My dh and I put coat number one on. We put “Boxcar Red” on our one feature wall and “Biscotti” on the rest of the other walls. They look great! Very warm colours. I’ll post pictures this weekend.
